Princeton University asked me to design a pair of posters promoting their inaugural conference on Black poetry. One of the organizers was 22nd Poet Laureate of the United States, Tracy K. Smith. The conference consisted of two and half days of discussions, debates, and readings. It was imperative that the poster included the names of all participants. The solution was a simple type treatment that prominently features the names in varying colors. The composition was loosely inspired by stanzas in poetry that stagger across the page.
